Professor Bernard Ejuromu Owumi

Professor Bernard Ejuromu Owumi, a professor of sociology, holds a Ph.D in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, where he had his first and Master degree. A recipient of Certificate for a course in Monitoring and Evaluation, May 5 – May 16, 2008 by Philliber Research Associates (PRA), USA. Recipient, Social Science Council of Nigeria/Ford Foundation Grant on liberalization policies in Nigeria for 1993, is a Member, National Association of Sociology and Anthropology; Member, Social Science and Medicine Africa Network (SOMANET) and Alumnus of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) of Leadership Development Program (LDP).

He a Lecturer, Department of Sociology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan (1989 – date) and was a visiting Lecturer: University of Swaziland Kwaluseni Swaziland Southern Africa (1999 – 2004);

Delta State University Abraka Delta State (2009 – 2010) and Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State (2012 -2013).

He was the Acting Head, Department of Sociology, University of Ibadan (2007 – 2009); Sub-Dean, (Postgraduate) Faculty of the Social Sciences, University of Ibadan (1996 – 1998); Member, University of Ibadan Senate (2007 – 2009); Warden, Kuti Hall, University of Ibadan (1997 – 1999); Acting Dean, Faculty of Business and Management Studies, Igbinedion University (2012-2013) and Head, Department of Sociology, Igbinedion University (2012 – 2013).

Prof. Owumi has over 40 publications, including books and Articles published in Learned Journals both locally and internationally. He is a member of Board of Trustee of Felix Anirah Foundation.
